Looks like we will have another warm, clear star party at Black Star Canyon before the fall/winter season.
To see the proposed agenda for the meeting of the OCA Board this coming Sunday, 9/28/08, please click on the title to this article. All members are welcome to attend the meeting (potluck at 5:00 p.m., meeting starts at 5:30), but please let Bob Buchheim (rbuchheim@earthlink.net) or Barbara Toy (btoy@cox.net) know in advance if you plan to come.
We had 21 cars come out on a warm evening that stayed clear up until about 9:30 PM. Everyone had a great time!
Save gas and join us at nearby Black Star Canyon for the star party this Saturday. It is just 10 miles from the 55 freeway and the Chapman Avenue East off ramp in Orange.
The Hashinger parking lot (next to Irvine Hall) is NO LONGER available for parking during the monthly OCA meetings and a parking permit WILL BE REQUIRED to park in the parking structures designated for our use. Click in the article title for additional information. FREE Permits are NOT available anymore.
Warmest BSC star party ever…and the sky was clear all evening!
As a reminder – the September general meeting had to be moved to the first Friday of September, 9/5/08. As usual, the formal part of the meeting starts at 7:30, but come early to get a good seat, check out the library, meet up with other members, and get the evening off to a good start! We meet in the Irvine Auditorium in the Hashinger Science Building at Chapman University, which is near Center St. a couple buildings north of Palm in Orange.
See you there!
This is the last summer star party at Black Star Canyon…come on out on a new moon night when it will be warm & dark!
Discount tickets for the Pacific Astronomy and Telescope Show will be available this Friday, August 8, 2008 at the general meeting.
