Wide-angle image of the Virgo cluster of galaxies. The "Markarian chain" arcs across the image from lower left to upper right and down again.
The two brightest objects (lower left) are elliptical galaxies M84 and M86. Other bright galaxies are NGC 4438, NGC 4435, NGC 4461, NGC 4473, NGC 4477, and NGC 4459. Dozens of galaxies up to mag. 15 are identifiable in this image.
