Messier Gallery![]() M108 (NGC 3556), an 11th-magnitude spiral galaxy in Ursa Major. M108 is an interesting object worthy of attention, expecially in northerly latitudes, where it may be circumpolar. Dark dust clouds and bright knots give it a distinctly mottled appearance, not unlike the better known (but poorly placed for northerly observers) spiral galaxy NGC 253.
