M51, the Whirlpool Galaxy, an 8th mag. spiral galaxy in Canes Venatici.

Notable in this image is supernova 1994i, just to the lower right of the nucleus. At the time it was about mag. 14 and fading. 15 second exposure, 09:57 UT, 22 April 1994.
