Messier Gallery![]() M43, a 9th-magnitude nebula in Orion. M43 (the "inverted comma" in the image), is actually part of M42, the Orion Nebula. Dark dust clouds between it and M42 cause it to appear as a separate nebula. Long exposures such as this show that the two are actually part of the same complex of nebulosity. Cropped from a larger image by Mark Park; the complete image is available here. Return to OCA Image Gallery Index | Return to OCA Home Page
