Galaxy Clusters: Giants of the Universe

Success! Brian Hart graduated March, 2008 with the Ph.D. in Astrophysics from the University of California, Irvine. He studied clusters of galaxies to learn the story of the Universe. Clusters of galaxies are big. Dark matter is everywhere.
Clusters of galaxies are the biggest things in the Universe. Sometimes, they bump into each other. Theory says that the Universe should be expanding from a Big Bang. The expansion moves clusters of galaxies farther apart from each other. They should hit each other less often as the Universe expands. Brian looked out into the depths of the Universe to see if this is so.

Prof. Brian Hart, Lipscomb University

Brian Hart serves as a professor of physics at Lipscomb University. Brian also moonlights as a computer consultant. Brian has several years of technical expertise and recently worked for the US Army Space Missile Defense Command. He has a PhD and a MS in physics from the University of California, Irvine, and graduated cum laude from Hamline University in Saint Paul, Minnesota with a BA in physics and mathematics. Brian also served a year in the Alabama Army National Guard.
