Michael J. Hoffert is a former OCA president, vice president, secretary and trustee.
He was the original charter member of the club in 1966 and one of the original designers of the 22” Kuhn telescope.
Currently, he is professor of physics at Concordia University and director of Manzanita Observatory.
"The 48 Inch High Efficiency Ritchey-Chrétien Reflector"
The talk will take us on a journey of its initial design phase and then fabrication.
The final assembly phase will be discussed and installation into the building at the Manzanita Indian Reservation.
Projects both past and present on the 48” will be discussed.
