The Active Asteroids
The active asteroids are a new class of solar system body sharing the dynamical properties of asteroids with the physical appearances of comets. They are asteroids that eject mass. I will describe my work on these bodies and discuss why they are important in the context of the overall understanding of the solar system.

David Jewitt
I am an observational planetary astronomer, interested in the primitive bodies of the Solar System, especially the asteroids, the comets, and the Kuiper belt objects. My aim is to make the coolest, most astonishing and scientifically informative observations possible. I have been lucky enough to find employers (always universities, of course) who allow me to do exactly that. I currently work at UCLA.
