Lighting Up the Dark: How Galaxies Trace Dark Matter on Large Scales

It will discussed that how measurements of the spatial distribution of galaxies on very large scales constrains both our understanding of cosmology as well as the physics of galaxy evolution. Also observed data and theoretical models of large scale structure both in the nearby and distant Universe will be discussed.

Alison Coil

She has received her B.A. in astrophysics from Princeton University in 1997, her M.S. in astrophysics from the University of California at Berkeley in 2001, and her Ph.D. in astrophysics from the University of California at Berkeley in 2004. She has been a Hubble Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Arizona before joining the faculty at the University of California at San Diego in 2008.

"What's Up?" in this month will be presented by Jim Benet
