We know there are many amateur astro photographers out there who were disappointed they could not make it to this years legendary conference. Now you can get the next best thing. Order your very own copies of the conference proceedings CD (containing 250MB of high resolution presentations) and the video CD (containing nearly 13 hours of live video footage of the presentations). Note: all registered attendees will be receiving their own copy of the conference proceedings CD for free.

Schedule of events

The conference will include several key subjects beneficial to all individuals interested in astro-imaging.The conference schedule is listed below. In addition, Imelda Joson, Photo Editor of Sky and Telescope magazine will appear as a guest speaker at the conference.

All times are Pacific Daylight Time which is -7 hours from Universal Time.

Day One Friday August 23, 2002 ------7:00PM to 10:00PM

The conference begins with an introduction to Astro-imaging and is given by Greg Pyros and Robert Reeves

Introduction - image samples, OCA club overview and available resources, about the Astro-Imagers special interest group within Orange County Astronomers, Challenges and rewards and realistic expectations

Types of imaging - Through a camera lens, Wide-field, Lunar / Planetary imaging, Deep Sky imaging.

Common concepts and misconceptions - Telescope designs, Mounts, Need for polar alignment, observing site considerations, exposure, color vs. black & white, guiding and post processing -- Members of the Astro-Imagers group

Film imaging overview - why shoot with film?, imaging opportunties with a film camera, overview of an imaging session, hardware requirements

CCD imaging overview - why shoot with a CCD?, imaging opportunties with a CCD, overview of an imaging session, hardware requirements.

Meet the photographers - to discuss equipment setup and host general questions.

On Sunday, you will have time to visit any or all of the participating sponsor booths, in addition to exhibitor and technique workshops you can participate in. Some workshops will require the use of a computer, it will be best if you bring your own notebook computer. Some workshops are hosted by the exhibitors and are aimed at helping you better understand and use the various astro-imaging products they produce. Others are aimed at providing you with a better understanding on how to use and maximize popular post processing software available to the astro-imager. Complimentary coffee and donuts are available. At the end of the day there will be door prize giveaways randomly chosen. You must be present to win.
